Student Conduct on Buses

Walk-to-Stop Policy

Leander ISD's walk-to-stop policy has set up bus stops so that elementary students have to walk a maximum of two long blocks (or two-tenths a mile) to their stop, while secondary students are required to walk a maximum of five-tenths a mile (or five long blocks) to their bus stop.

If you consider that we do not transport students living inside a two-mile radius of our schools, you see that this walk-to-stop policy is only asking that elementary students walk one-tenth as far to bus stops, as we ask many LISD students to walk back and forth to school each day.

The result is fewer buses returning to campuses at less than capacity due to time constraints - and this saves important taxpayer dollars. (Please note that bus routes for special needs students will operate as they have in past years.)

Hazardous Routes

Hazardous Routes

LISD invited our community to submit requests for an evaluation of their student's walking route to school between Nov. 12 and Dec. 1. This feedback will instruct Transportation personnel to evaluate these areas and submit findings to the community in January 2020.

Bus Routes (InfoFinder i)

infofinderi logoLeander ISD's  software allows LISD parents to get information on their students' bus stop locations and times by simply entering their street address and the student's grade level.

TransFinder will then give you a map showing your child's assigned elementary or secondary bus stop.

Lost and Found

If your student has lost or found an item on the bus please have them inform their bus driver. Drivers are asked to maintain a log of any items that are lost or found on their buses. Parents may also contact the Transportation office at 512-570-0700.

Bus Safety

Student safety is the primary concern of the Transportation Department. Statistics show that the most dangerous time for students is before entering or after exiting the bus. The Transportation Department considers the environment and age of the students when determining bus stops.

The department attempts to place every bus stop at a location with reasonable safety assurances for students. Parents must assume the responsibility for their students traveling back and forth from home to the stop. Students are expected to be at their stops five minutes before the scheduled time of the bus arrival.
